Make sure to have a clear sleep routine written down that includes strategies like calming pillow sprays, hot drink, relaxing bath, scented candles, reading your favourite book, doing mindfulness colouring, settling down into fresh bedding , writing down your thoughts in a journal before you go to sleep and if you wake during the night, listening to relaxing music or using a sleep app like CALM. Put on some favourite songs and dancing around the house to turn your calm response on and celebrate life’s small triumphs!
Take control of how you feel by practising box breathing. Draw a box on paper or in your mind whilst breathing in for 4 and out for 4, for each side of the box. This calms your breathing into a rhythm that helps you to regain control!
